We recently had the honor of winning 3rd place in the working truck show at the expo!!

Nick spent most of the day working on the truck. I didn't really do too much, as I attended the meet and greet party that was going on, and did networking. Finally at about 3:30 in the morning Nick came to bed. I felt horrible that he did so much work, and I only cleaned the inside.

Then, Friday during the day I spent the day decorating the truck for the convoy, which I am sure, detoured some people from how nice the truck really looked. I am so proud of Nick and all of his work.

A much needed update

It has been quite a while since I have updated my blog, and I apologize. There has been so many great things that have happened over the last few months. With much hard work and dedication, we are seeing that our business is headed into the right direction. Within two months we will be debt free, minus my car, and student loan. That is a huge thing for us! It is amazing to know that we are almost there.

One more huge thing is that our van will be going up for sale pretty soon. It has been an extremely hard decision, but it is time for it to go. We have spent a lot of money getting it ready to sell, and someone will be getting themselves a great vehicle to start in the industry with!

The places you wil go

There have been questions of what is going on with us, so here it goes. January 30th I took my CDL test and passed with flying colors. I was in the process of getting my upgraded CDL for a job that I had been offered in Lansing. During the process of this we had a few different offers come across the table for us to drive as a team. Due to circumstances that arose, we accepted one of the positions. We went trough orientation the first week of February, and started running loads for our new company last week. I seem to have taken to it very quickly, and well I may add. I have even driven through NYC already. I actually drove more miles than Nick did last week! I am back to driving nights, which I really enjoy.

We are very happy to be back running as a team together. I am enjoying the straight truck as well. I like having a dedicated sleeper, a way to cook, as well as being able to drive again. It is a Freightliner Century, the upper bunk has been taken out and custom cabinetry installed. The standard plastic cabinets have been removed and wooden ones installed. We have a larger refrigerator with a separate freezer, which is great for me, to have a larger variety of foods to cook for us. While we are sitting we can enjoy watching tv. For right now, we are keeping quiet as to where we went, just for personal reasons.

We plan on being at MATS, which at that point, our new company will be displayed on our truck. Hope to see you there.

Welcome 2013

A few people have asked where I have been, so I figured that it was time to post an update. The last two months of 2012 were mostly spent with me being at home, and Nick out on the road working. I was at home with my family, as we awaited the passing of my uncle. He fought a long hard battle with cancer, that ultimately, at the age of 36, took his life. November 13th, we had been told he probably wouldn't make it through the night, and that he only had a few hours left. That few hours, ended up being a long 6 weeks. My parents spent nearly 24 hours a day at the hospital that whole time. I would go up and sometimes spend the night, other times, just visiting a few hours. Nick was finally able to make it up to see him, for the first time, on Christmas day. We spent time with my grandparents, before heading back to my parents house for the night. My dad felt that he should stay so he wasn't alone, and my grandparents stayed as well. Early the next morning, we got the call to head back to the hospital, that he was gone. I took my mom up to the hospital, and Nick stayed at home with my other grandma. She had only been out of the hospital a few days, as she had knee replacement surgery. That afternoon we headed up north to spend some time with my dad and stepmom. I was really looking forward to it. My dad was going to take Nick deer hunting for the first time. It is a pretty big thing up there, and for my dad to welcome someone else into the woods with him, we were both kind of amazed. A few family members were shocked as well. They didn't get a deer, but Nick had a great time and is looking forward to going in November. We also had our family Christmas with all of my dads siblings and their children. It was the first time that Christmas had been held at my dad's and the first time back in the tiny little town since being at my grandparents over 10 years ago. We headed home on the 30th, since we were going to see Zac Brown Band on New Years Eve to celebrate our anniversary. We have now been married for 3 years! It is hard to believe that it has been that long, yet seems so short. We went back to work on January 2nd. Unfortunately we were unable to attend my uncles funeral, which was later in the week. Then to top things off, Monday my great grandma passed away. She was 102 years old. She wasn't sick or anything just old. Her funeral was yesterday. Things have been a bit slow, then again it is January. Hope that your 2013 is starting off well!!!!!
